Cheap Eats In Christchurch

I share my top cheap eats in Christchurch, from St Pierre's $6 sushi to discounted Bunnings café snacks. My favorites include BK's $5 cheeseburger meal, $5 pizzas from Domino's/Pizza Hut, fresh bakery items from T Bakery, and Sheffield's pies. I also recommend Tuesday burger deals at Velvet Burger and Bacon Bros.

Best Value Cheap Eats in Christchurch

I love eating, but I also don't like wasting money. That's why I've compiled some of my favourite cheap eats that offer great value around Christchurch. This list came about after a disappointing experience at KFC recently. I'd used an Entertainment Book voucher for a buy-one-get-one-free Zinger burger deal. Like fish and chips, KFC is something I get excited about once or twice a year, only to be let down during or after eating. This time, the Zinger burgers were particularly disappointing - they were barely edible, and I eat everything, especially if I've spent money on it!

Daily Value Meals Under $6

St Pierre's Sushi of the Day is a fantastic option at just $6.00. With multiple locations around Christchurch, it's one of my favourite go-to choices. They offer different flavours each day, and it's relatively healthy - a definite win-win situation. The BK Cheeseburger meal at $5 is another bargain, including a drink, small chips, cheeseburger, and sundae. Similarly, both Domino's and Pizza Hut offer $5 pizza ranges. While I try not to think too much about how they make these profitable, they're undeniably good value.

Quick Bites and Bakery Finds

For a quick snack, the Turkish or ciabatta bun from New World at just $0.79 is a brilliant option, especially in the mornings when they're fresh from the oven. T Bakery, located near the corner of Gloucester and Woodham Road, offers an excellent chicken and avocado roll for $4.90. Despite a recent price increase, it's still great value with its super fresh bun and generous serving of avocado.

Local Favourites and Special Deals

Sheffield Pies, though slightly out of the way, serves what I consider the best pies around. At about $5.50 for a steak and cheese, they're worth the journey. Every Tuesday night, Velvet Burger runs a two-for-one deal, making their gourmet burgers available for $5-$8 each. You'll need to be on their mailing list for the code, but it's worth it for two quality burgers at $10-$17 total.

Unique Finds and Special Offers

Bacon Bros' Tinder Tuesday deal offers two burgers for $20, though you might want to check if this deal is still running. For something different, Maharaja's Poutine at $12 offers an excellent twist on the traditional dish, available with butter chicken, rogan josh, or another curry option. Finally, Bunnings Café offers 50% off certain items in the mid-afternoon, including $1.40 cheese and garlic sausage rolls. Their coffee, while not the best in Christchurch, is reasonably priced at $3.90 for a large.

Do you know any other great value food options around Christchurch? I'm always eager to expand this list with new recommendations.
