November Update

As with the last monthly update I’m going to break it down into topics that have been meaningful.

Podcasting

Shift to value based content vs updates and rambling. I’m not sure I’ll apply the same strategy to the blog TBD.

Received the wireless microphones courtesy of Ali Express, will they be a bargain or a waste of money, time will tell but for $28 NZD they seem good.

Bartercard

I’ve (re)joined, not quite up and running yet but have lined up the first couple of deals and do intend to create some content around Bartercard, how it works, why I joined, how to use it etc

November Numbers

Making some gains last month feels good, both from a capital growth standpoint and from a cash surplus standpoint. Expenses sure can get out of control quickly though, medical alone is an overlooked cost or potential cost for me. The irony of paying insurance and yet having an exclusion for what I need isn’t a grea feeling that’s for sure!

Will work to get some better clarity next month on my accounting procedures, feel like there could be some variance or cloudiness with the credit card transactions / payments.

Pies of Canterbury

Nick and I have been having some fun with our instagram pie review page recently. Got on the radio for an interview last weekend, gave away some pies. Ate even more pies! Tried some new flavours + the new pies and cars series is going to be a winner (I think).

Is there money in it yet? Not yet, we’ve had some free pies which feels like a win but still working on the monetisation strategy. Feel like we’re getting closer and closer.

Weka / West Coast In General

No huge progress here, another couple of trips over, one in that HOT Z4 courtesy of Eyerwell Forest Motor Company that you might of seen on my Instagram.

Still aiming for construction to start Q1 next year. Confirmed we’ll start with one unit (not two) did receive valuable advise about mapping out the property for future dwellings before getting too far along and installing utilities etc. This could delay the start of construction but could be prudent for the long term.

Security Matters

It’s official I’m now a shareholder in Security Matters, stoked to be partnered with Ross on this. He’s been running the business solo for the last 6-7 ish years and will now have been to work together with on a planning and strategy level. Looking forward to see what we can do in 2023 and beyond. Absolutely a component of the challenge and also a structure that I’m keen to assess and potentially use with other businesses. (Me buying a minority shareholding and being involved at an ownership level)

Stadium time lapse

After a false start tech wise I’ve got a new camera installed and recording and should have the first week of footage up and live by next weekend (mid Dec).

What’s next / December

Being about a third of the way through December today it does seem like a bit of a weird month in terms of vibe. Clearly a unusual month with Christmas and a lot of folks being on holiday / on the “go slow”.

If anything I’m more pumped up than ever, feel like I’m moving into a position of readiness for next year to start and don’t really anticipate a lot of down time. I think it’s important to recharge when you need to but at the moment I’m feeling the most energised I’ve felt all year and better and better things seem to be happening all the time.
